Disaster Relief Mission Trip & LERT Training
Coming this spring! We are planning a mission trip to assist in the cleaning and rebuilding efforts in the southeastern US. We are tentatively aiming for the Spring Break window (lateMarch/early April). Why so vague on the details? Before our group can be assigned a specific region and time window, our volunteers need to go through training with the LCMS. Once our volunteers have been trained, we can begin selecting our specific location/date . The location/date is further complicated by our group’s need for housing in the work area, as well as matching a work area that fits our group’s expertise level.
You might be thinking, “I MIGHT want to go depending on the time and location…but I’m not sure.” Great! We’re all in the same boat. Just come to the training anyway! We cannot move to the next level of planning until we complete the initial training for our group. If you can’t make this trip, you’ll still be qualified for trips in the future.
If you are interested in potentially joining us for this trip, please consider attending the LERT (Lutheran Early Response Teams) Training program at Bethany on January 11, 2025, from 8:30AM-1PM. Find out more and register at the LERT website. To sign up, you must create an account and follow all the steps. In addition, there is a $35 cost per person for the training (if the cost is a hindrance for you, please contact Pam Kolzow in the Church Office). To learn about what to expect on the trip, you can contact Pastor Clemmer.
(Why is this so complicated? The LCMS Disaster Relief has really done a great job in its efficiency and its securing the safety of all involved. The extensive registration is a major part of that.)
