Vicar Deiss’s resignation

A note from Pastor Clemmer: Our vicar informed us on Tuesday, September 23, that he was resigning as vicar due to personal health concerns for his family. We are very disappointed and saddened by this, but we trust his decision and pray for him and his family. The pastors have sought counsel on this matter from our District President Allan Buss, as well as our Elders and the seminary’s vicarage Director Dr. Todd Pepperkorn. While sad, we trust our Lord’s promise that all this will work together for good for those who love God who are called according to His purpose. This will be discussed briefly at the start of Sunday’s adult Bible study in the gym. If you’d like to talk more, please see a pastor or elder. You can read Vicar Deiss’s resignation letter below:

Pastor Clemmer, and to whom it may concern,

I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as the Vicar at Bethany Lutheran Church. I have no doubt that in the short time I have been here, I have learned many valuable lessons regarding the preaching office and serving the church.

For the health and safety of my family, we will be returning to Indiana. After consulting with and obtaining approval from Director Pepperkorn, I hereby resign from my vicarage. My last day will be no later than October 5th.

Wesley T. Deiss
