Confession and Absolution

Jesus gave his apostles the authority to forgive and retain sin (John 20:23). This authority to forgive sins is the unique authority God has given to the church and is the foundation of the faith. We give out Holy Absolution in a corporate and/or individual setting.

Corporate
Most of our church services begin with a time of confession and absolution. This guarantees that we are fit to sing God’s praises and receive his other gifts such as baptism, the Lord’s Supper and the teaching of the Word.

Individual
There are few joys in life that compare to hearing the pastor pronounce absolution of your sins. Individual confession is recommended for sins that plague the conscience and as a regular spiritual exercise. Individual private confession and absolution is scheduled every Good Friday and our pastors also take individual appointments at any day of the year. All confessions are held in confidentiality. If you have any questions please call the pastors at 630/355-2198
